LITERACY WEEK ACTIVITIES

Sirius College celebrated literacy week with a “Where’s Wally?” dress up day on 29th August. It was great to see so many students dressed up as Wally and we also witnessed other characters from 'Where's Wally?' like Wanda, Odlaw and Wizard! Thanks to all the parents who supported us for this event. The best dressed from each class will receive a prize in the morning assembly on Monday.

The other activities that students participated in were:

“Drop Everything and Read” D.E.A.R. A special announcement was made every day and everyone at school had to stop what they were doing and read for 5 minutes. This was a wonderful time to celebrate and encourage children to sit down and enjoy reading a book just for pleasure. We captured students reading in various places around the school including the yard.

Scavenger Hunt: Students had to find clues and record destinations around the school and complete small tasks along the way. The first three groups that reached the last destination won a prize. Students also had to match the teachers with their favourite books.

On Thursday, we had Emma from the Shepparton library visit our school. She read books to students followed by an activity which they thoroughly enjoyed.
